Buy a used engine, and not a new car

August 25th, 2009 at 05:07 pm

This is just my first post. Wanting to reach out to the money saving community regarding their expenditures on automotive care and upkeep

Most people dont think about replacing the car engine. They hear the engine is dead and assume its best to replce the whole car.

Average replacement cost of a running engine is under $1,000 compared to a quality used car at even $7500-$10,000

You can get a mechanic to install it in a few hours and your back on the road.

DF - is Dear Fiance' Dear Friend, Dear f___; you need to read the persons blog to know 100% what person they are refering too.

Last year I fixed my engine, it was $1100 and my car has a value of $600 according to the insurance company so it was a hard decision on what to do. We figured when the mechanic working on the car was willing to buy it from us IF we did not fix it and not wanting to buy new it was better to fix the car.
